The Proust Questionnaire

A few months ago, one of my favorite bloggers, Sarah Kathleen Peck, wrote a blog post about The Proust Questionnaire, a series of introspective questions a young, pre-writer Marcel Proust answered right around the turn of the 20th Century. The questionnaire included a series of questions about the preferences and personality of the taker, reflecting a popular trend of the era.

Included were questions ranging from “favorite bird” to “favorite virtues in a man” and, in her post, Sarah invited all of us, her dear readers, to take the time to respond to all or some of these prompts.

I did.
And months later, I realized that I wanted to share some of them – and not only share them, but showcase them, as cherished little vignettes; little shadow boxes framing each answer, on its own, with its unique prompt.

Here, I share with you a few of my favorites:
